Occidental Hotels & Resorts’ flagship property, Royal Hideaway Playacar, an all-inclusive resort on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, has earned the American Automobile Association’s (AAA) coveted Five-Diamond Award for the second year in a row. Royal Hideaway Playacar was the first adults-only all-inclusive resort in the world to earn this distinction in October 2006, and continues to set precedents for quality, comfort and service.

For its 2008 rankings, AAA, by way of esteemed travel and tourism editors, examined approximately 32,000 lodgings throughout North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Royal Hideaway Playacar was one of just 100 properties to achieve Five-Diamond status, which puts the resort above 99.6% of all AAA-reviewed properties in terms of comfort, cleanliness and hospitality.
In addition to AAA, Travel + Leisure has also recognized the Royal Hideaway Playacar, ranking its spa the 3rd best of all hotel spas in Mexico, Central and South America in its October 2007 issue.
