Between March 11 and 13, the 66 students from the 25 international hotel schools taking part in the summit were able to attend lectures and panel discussions led by professional speakers from the hospitality sector, take part in challenges and enjoy the convivial moments set up by the event's organizing team.

For the 14th edition of the YHS, students from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) chose the theme "Bridging Concepts, Beyond Realities". Through this theme, the YHS looks to the future of the hotel industry: what will be the issues of tomorrow, and what role will new technologies play in the search for solutions?

In keeping with this year's theme, the speakers addressed subjects that are anchored in the students' professional outlook: hotel real estate professions, work environment and investment strategies. But they also addressed the present and future horizons of the hotel industry as a whole: emerging destinations, digital marketing, and regenerative hospitality.

As in previous editions, the professionals who came to talk with the students included some fine names: Léo Maissen, CEO of hotel operations at Tschuggen, Antoine Marion, project manager at Orient Express, Michael Levie, co-founder of CitizenM, Tatiana Labaki, head of hotel, travel, and tourism consulting at Tonomus (Neom), and many others.
In addition to the lectures, students had the chance to take part in a challenge launched by the YHS's main partner: Neom. Introduced on the very first day, this challenge invited participants to think, in teams randomly formed by the summit's organizing committee, about an innovation that could be introduced into Neom's various projects in Saudi Arabia (Sindalah, Gulf of Aqaba, Oxagon, The Line, Trojena).

The 13 competing teams had 2 days to come up with an idea and develop it further to meet NEOM's expectations and constraints. After a brief presentation on stage, the three best proposals faced questions from the jury, made up of executives from the Saudi group. The winners will be invited to Saudi Arabia to see how work is progressing on The Line, the Group's future cognitive city in the country.

But it was above all the opportunity to get to know each other that marked this summit: students emphasized the chance to discover new cultures, new ideas and new visions of the hotel industry. The YHS 2024 brought together almost 70 students from international hotel schools: Swiss, American, and Australian. Through convivial events such as the opening cocktail party and the gala at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, participants in this year's YHS had plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas and grow together.
