Well-being takes centre stage in luxury hotels. With her innovative mattress combining infrared and electromagnetic fields, Charlotte Muller offers a cell regeneration experience that is now available at the George V spa. Le Journal des Palaces was able to discover (and test!) this wellness innovation by the pool of the Parisian palace during its presentation to the trade press on Friday 17 October.

The Power Mat, the result of two years of research and development, completely transforms the wellness experience by combining two complementary technologies: long-wave infrared (FIR), which stimulates metabolism and circulation, and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF), a technology approved by NASA for its effects on cell regeneration. Together, they promote muscle recovery, calm the nervous system and improve sleep quality.

Designed at the French Fashion Institute as part of Charlotte Muller's MBA programme, the device stands out for its ethical and sustainable design: adjustable heat, eight PEMF applicators distributed throughout the body, 17 themed programmes, and a free programme to offer customers the true luxury of choice. Among these 18 options, it will be possible to prepare your body for sleep, or, conversely, to revitalise it to start the day with energy, despite jet lag. These are ideal applications for customers who have just arrived from distant destinations and may be suffering from jet lag. The 18 programmes range from 20 minutes to an hour: mental health, pre- or post-workout, meditation, and even ‘focus & motivation’. This could also be beneficial for the well-being of employees at luxury establishments, before their workday to boost their energy or after to gently recover.

In practice, the Power Mat is a thin mattress topper, adding barely any thickness to a pool lounger or massage table in a treatment room. It is made of blue quartz and amethyst stones and has eight applicators to distribute the benefits evenly throughout the body, from head to toe. Even after just a short period of use, the effects are quickly felt: enveloping warmth, a feeling of lighter legs and an overall more zen state of mind, perfectly matching the relaxation and mental calm programme chosen to try it out. Versatile, it can be installed by the pool, in a treatment room, or even in a guest room, directly on the beds of guests who want a more private experience.

Initially designed for the Charlotte Muller Method Studio, this mattress is now establishing itself in the luxury hotel industry as a signature experience, at the crossroads of design, science and sensoriality. After winning over the George V, other prestigious establishments have followed in the footsteps of the Parisian palace in the Golden Triangle and are embarking on the Charlotte Muller revolution: the Cheval Blanc Courchevel, the Saint James, the Relais Christine... An investment that can be recouped in just a few weeks, assuming that luxury establishments charge for its use.

Wellness Tech Charlotte Muller is also looking towards other innovations: a travel version of the Power Mat and a photobiomodulation sculpture (low-intensity laser therapy) for regenerative baths. By combining innovation and sensoriality, Charlotte Muller is sketching out the future of the spa, where the most advanced technologies are used for well-being.
