Indochina's 'off-the-beaten-track' boutique hotel group Victoria Hotels & Resorts is offering an adventure package deep into the Mekong Delta, including a cruise of uncharted tourism territory aboard a converted traditional rice barge.

The ‘Jewels of the Mekong package’ cruises the legendary waterways aboard the luxury barge, Le Jarai, experiencing life that few travellers get the chance to encounter.

The three-day package also includes a night each with breakfast at the French group's two luxury colonial-style resort hotels in the Mekong Delta.

Available until September 30, 2008, it is priced at US$578 per person (including taxes) based on twin sharing, with a single supplement of US$495 and US$187 charged for a third person. Children under 5 are free of charge, with a 50% discount on the package for children aged 5–12.

The adventure starts with a morning transfer from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Xuyen by private car, where guests board Le Jarai for a six-hour cruise of the Mekong River, discovering floating markets, fish farms and daily life of locals.

After lunch on board guests can take part in a cooking class and an introduction to Vietnamese spices & herbs, enjoy a massage on the lower deck or just relax on the Thai cusions on the upper deck taking in the views.

Overnight is at Victoria Chau Doc Hotel, a grand hotel deep in the Mekong Delta close to the Cambodian border -- a region famed for the climax of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now.

After a boating excursion to a nearby Cham village the following morning, guests transfer by private car to Victoria Can Tho Resort, the first luxury hotel in Vietnams' 'Deep South'.

At Can To, guests embark on the Lady Hau to enjoy a breakfast cruise to floating markets before returning by car to Ho Chi Minh City for departure from Vietnam.
