Dusit International was awarded “The Best Hotel Group (Asia Brand)” in the TravelWeekly (Asia) industry Awards 2008, based on over 2 million votes by both expert judges and TravelWeekly (Asia) readers.
The awards, held in Singapore on 17 July, recognised the best in the Asian travel industry, acknowledging their contributions to tourism in 6 categories; Tourism Products & Services, Tourism-related Entities, Personality, Online & Technology, Marketing Promotion, and Best Employer. Dusit International was nominated in the Best Hotel Group (Asia Brand) - Tourism Products & Services category along with other nominees, including Shangri La Hotels & Resorts, and Taj Hotels, Resorts & Palaces.

Dusit International has a long established heritage as one of Asia's leading hotel groups and we continue our expansion in Asia with the opening of new properties in Pattaya and Koh Samui. 'dusitD2 baraquda pattaya’ will open later this year and ‘dusitD2 samui’ will open in mid 2009, presenting new opportunities for our progressive ‘dusitD2’ design brand. We are also expanding outside of Asia and in January 2009 we open the Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo as well as 2 properties in Abu Dhabi and 3 properties on The Palm Jumeirah,” said Mr. Simon Burgess, Global Director of Sales, Dusit International when accepting the award.
Tis Perera, Travel & Meetings Group (TMG) associate publisher of TravelWeekly, TravelWeeklyChina and EVENTS, said the impressive turn-out was another measure of the Awards’ success, which had also garnered a very impressive number of votes using the elctronic platform.
