Creating the Forest Resort development has been an exhilarating and exhausting journey that has included many highlights such as negotiating the first Indigenous Land Use Agreement between traditional landowners and a golf course/resort developer and building an environmentally sustainable resort through the construction of Australia's first privately owned water-treatment plant

The Best Tourism Development category recognises excellence in the planning of tourism infrastructure and/or services with a focus on entrepreneurial vision, harmonious integration with the environment, design and functionality, and the uniqueness of the service.
For Novotel Forest Resort Creswick owner/developer, Jim Walsh, winning the award is the icing on a cake that has taken more than six years to make and has involved his entire family.
