Aruba Wine Food & Art Festival, Special Menus, Dining Discounts & Rooms From $189

Experience the relaxation of a Caribbean getaway combined with epicurean delights during Culinary Experience Month at The Westin Resort, Aruba. Throughout May, the resort is offering special prix fixe and specialty menus at four different on-site restaurants. The highlight of the month is the fifth annual Aruba Wine, Food & Art Festival from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday May 23. Foodies can enjoy two different offers, both with nightly rates starting at $189 per room.* Travelers who visit through the month of May will enjoy the Culinary Passport Program, offering savings up to 20 percent for repeat diners. Those who visit during the festival can choose to forego the Passport Program, and instead receive two complimentary tickets to the May 22 Wine & Food Pairing Exhibition, a $60 value.**

The Culinary Passport Program enables guests to receive tiered discounts starting at five percent with the first visit, 10 percent on the second, 15 percent on the third and 20 percent for each subsequent visit at any of the resort’s participating restaurants. Venues participating in the Culinary Passport Program are: Azull, Café Baci, Pago Pago Steakhouse, The Terrace (lunch only) and room service. The discount applies to the food portion of the bill.

Prix fixe and specialty menus will be available for lunch poolside at The Terrace, Pago Pago Steakhouse, the Italian Cafe Baci, and for barefoot seaside dining at Azull. All special menus will feature wine pairings from Chilean wine producer, Concha y Toro: Lunch in Terrace features a bacalao and tayotas salad from Chef Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic. ($12) Pago Pago features a five-course tasting menu highlighting a bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin as the main course. ($49 per person)
Chef Sebastiano Pinzone of Sicily displays a savory five-course menu in Café Baci highlighting a lamb filet as the main course and Sicilian cannoli for dessert. ($42 per person) At in-the-sand Azull, diners will enjoy a special dessert of bavarois made with crusted cashew and chocolate. ($8)

The 2009 Aruba Wine, Food & Art Festival kicks off May 21 with the “Taste of Aruba” where Aruba’s top chefs will each prepare a signature course in a live kitchen stadium. On May 22, the Wine & Food Pairing Exhibition showcases wineries from around the globe, the Westin culinary team, and students from Aruba Culinary School. Closing the three-day culinary event is a Champagne Sparkle featuring South America’s famous Chef Harry Sasson Tchira and bottomless champagne pairings sponsored by Moet Chandon and Dom Perignon.
