New GDS code for Vienna International Hotels (Autriche)

With the beginning of the year, Vienna International received its own GDS code. The single “VI” code can now be used for 27 of the 37 VI hotels represented in the four booking systems Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo and Worldspan. The remaining VI hotels will follow in the coming two years.
“The markets are changing and classic sales channels are being supplemented by online reservation systems, which, with the advent of the internet, have experienced a period of dynamic change. This makes it all the more important for us to be represented in the systems through the introduction of the separate GDS code ‘VI’,” says Rudolf Tucek, CEO of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG, of the successful implementation of the new code.
The Global Distribution Channel (GDS) – an airline-dominated hotel reservation system – has become an indispensable sales tool for the hotel industry. In using GDS, Vienna International relies on the technical and marketing know-how of the New York-based The Private Label Company (PLC), a subsidiary of The Leading Hotels of the World and Trust International.
The new, single “VI” code raises the group’s status on the hotel market and further consolidates the position of the Vienna International Hotels & Resorts brand. The improved possibility to call up the individual VI hotels also means improved accessibility in the booking systems for travel agents and customers.
