W Retreat & Spa Bali-Seminyak Celebrates its opening with a 3-day Premiere Showcasing W’s Passion for Fashion, Design and Music
W Hotels Worldwide recently kicked off the worldwide Premiere of W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak, with an event concept of “A New Scene Unseen” – offering unique insights of Bali and a Retreat that brought the trendy island alive. Showcasing W’s passions for fashion, design and music, the three-day Premiere Event weekend established W Bali as the definitive entertainment, fashion, and nightlife destination within Seminyak for both visitors and locals alike.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening W Hotels Worldwide’s newest retreat with a signature W Premiere event,” said Craig Seaward, General Manager of W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak. “We’ve taken the best of Bali and Seminyak and merged it with W’s distinct personality, creating a cutting-edge island retreat that refuels the body and senses.”
“A New Scene Unseen,” targeted to W tastemakers and trendsetters, unveiled the new W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak through a series of events and exhibitions that highlight the extraordinary design, culinary and entertainment elements. By day, a series of exclusive Insider events showcased the dynamic elements of W Bali, including an exclusive tour with W Bali designer Ed Ng of AB Concept; a dramatic fashion photography exhibit by acclaimed Dutch photographer Marcel van der Vlugt in the Retreat’s Extreme-WOW Suite (=E-WOW); and a behind-the-scenes Mash-up Master Cooking Class with W Bali’s Director of Cuisine Chef Ian Lovie and Chef de Cuisine Jack Yoss.
At night, W Bali came alive with a swirl of energetic events featuring music, fashion and nightlife. Guests were hosted for cocktails and dinner at FIRE restaurant, which featured grilled specialties. Later in the evening the invited guest experienced at WooBar, a preview of Bali’s “New Scene After Dark.” Already established as one of Bali’s trendiest nightspots through a series of W Happenings (W’s ongoing signature event series), WooBar is a three-story indoor-outdoor epicenter of beachside entertainment that serves up cutting edge exotic sips and snacks, DJs spinning the latest in music, and a cool, sensual design. The “New Scene After Dark” featured high-octane cocktails created by mixologist extraordinaire Joseph Boroski of Sip Slowly and a lineup of top international DJ’s and live musicians selected by W Hotels Global Music Director Michaelangelo L’Acqua. The lineup included DJ Dimitri from Paris, a nightclub legend with a sound rooted of 70’s funk and disco, and Bali’s own DJ Mamsa, who was accompanied live by saxophonist Rio and bongo drums.
On the final day, guests were invited to experience Bali from a uniquely W Insider’s view. The special Insider tours included a day trip to Ubud to visit the world-famous Eat, Pray, Love medicine man; a private tour of the Villa Eden Residence; or a lively day cruising the Straits of Bali with DJ Mamsa on board the fabulous W Catamaran.
A New Scene Unseen at W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak

Finally, at Cellar, guests can slip behind the velvet rope and experience a personalized selection of wine tastings in the comfort of W Bali’s premium wine cellar.
