Michael Sengol, Chief Executive Officer of Meritus Hotels & Resorts (MHR), was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) at the recent Awards Gala Presentation for its Regional Series 2011-2013 held in Singapore.
Dubbed the “Oscars” of Hospitality and marking their 10th anniversary this year, HAPA has committed the last decade in developing and raising service standards amongst hospitality establishments and personalities by recognising those who excel in the industry throughout Asia.
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Hospitality recognises a distinguished persona exemplifying service excellence, visionary leadership, drive and passion throughout their career in the industry. Michael was selected for the distinction by HAPA’s esteemed panel of judges after a stringent selection process that included interviews, workplace assessments, and industry feedback.
“I am grateful for this honour,” said Michael. “I believe that as much as one takes, one also has to give back. I intend to keep giving back my knowledge and experience for the growth of this industry, and until I have passed on the torch of success for others to carry.”
Michael has devoted close to 40 years to the industry, always seeking the highest standards in hotel management, service excellence, and people development. His expertise has taken him on key assignments with the world’s most renowned hospitality companies across Europe, Australia, Guam, China, and the Asia Pacific region.
Earlier this year he was also conferred the Fonterra Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Gourmet Summit, and the Leading CEO Award at the Singapore HR Awards 2011 by Singapore Human Resources Institute.
