A growing trend being witnessed across all our city hotels is the rise in bleisure and staycation travel. As the rules of work and play are blurring, professionals are looking for creative ways to spend quality time with friends and family. Owing to the time-crunch experienced by urbanites, spontaneous staycations in their own cities or even combining work travel with leisure breaks is becoming increasingly popular.

Statistics show that staycations across metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata are steadily on the rise. With over half a million stays this year, staycations – low on holiday planning time, cost and carbon footprint – are a win-win for everyone. Millennials, solo travellers, families, business guests are choosing the iconic city hotels like The Taj Mahal Palace, Taj Lands End - Mumbai, Taj Palace -Delhi, Taj Bengal - Kolkata, and Taj West End, Bangalore amongst others to relax, indulge and use facilities like the pool, spa, unique dining options, putting greens for golf, all of which feels like a mini vacation not far from home.

Our research also shows that globe-trotting professionals are doubling up as the wander-lusting vacationers, pushing the demand for bleisure travel. More than 80 per cent of global business travellers combine work travel with exploring the city they’re staying in and nearly 97 per cent believe that by adding leisure days, they would have been able to immerse themselves in cultural experiences and garner knowledge about the destination. A recent study also shows Indians as the 2nd highest bleisure travelers in the world.
