 Embark on the Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train, for a two-night, three-day odyssey through the majestic Peruvian Andes, from the historic city of Cusco Crédit photo © Belmond This December, Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel will mark the debut of the THEBE MAGUGU SUITE and MAGUGU HOUSE CAPE TOWN - part concept store, part cultural institute by renowned fashion designer Thebe Magugu; a new immersive marine dining experience by award-winning Chef Ángel León; and the return of Confections x Collections (CxC).
The THEBE MAGUGU SUITE launches at the hotel, marking the ten-year anniversary of Thebe's fashion brand and his first foray into interior design. Adjoining the suite, MAGUGU HOUSE CAPE TOWN will open, showcasing Magugu's collections and artworks from the most sought-after artists.
The hotel's upcoming new culinary destination, Amura, marks the “Chef of the Sea's” first restaurant outside of Spain, and his debut in Africa.
The menu will celebrate the shared flavours of Cape Town and Cadiz, highlighting ethically sourced seafood, seasonal produce and indigenous spices. November will also mark the fourth instalment of CxC, celebrating pan-African fashion.
Now a staple of Mount Nelson's annual cultural calendar, this year's fashion showcase from 6-8 November will mark a significant evolution, with the launch of Magugu's landmark project, making history at the hotel while unveiling his latest Spring and Summer 2026 collection.
2. Peru: New Lake Titicaca wellness experience launches aboard Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train, Peru
Embark on the Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train, for a two-night, three-day odyssey through the majestic Peruvian Andes, from the historic city of Cusco with visits to historical Incan ruins before venturing into Puno.
From there, guests will navigate the serene waters of Lake Titicaca, one of the largest lakes in South America, where they will enjoy a brand-new experience: lunch on Colla Beach accompanied by a "bath healing" ritual, an ancestral practice that seeks to mitigate stress through the waters of the lagoon.
En route to the train's last stop, guests will spot the Andean camelids from the open-air Observation Deck and visit the Sumbay Caves, which stands as a guardian of Arequipa's art and history.
More than just a journey, the train is a profound immersion into the heart of Peru's highest mountains, climbing up to 4,145 above sea level. Onboard the train boasts three room types from bunk cabins, to twin, and suites, which can open onto one another, a good option for families.
For a moment of relaxation between adventures, the Picaflor Spa Car offers massages and signature treatments with views of Peru's ever-changing flora and fauna.
3. Mexico: Culinary journeys & wellness rituals take centre stage this winter at Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya
Visit Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya for an extended summer in complete seclusion located between jungle and open sea.
Throughout the festive period, the hotel will be hosting a series of events, celebrating Executive Chef Curtis Stone's renowned BBQ techniques and pioneering wellbeing at Maroma Spa by Guerlain.
Curtis Stone: Fire & Friends will take place from 5-8 December with a roster of world-renowned chefs featuring lively BBQs, hands-on masterclasses, and an exquisite tasting menu at the hotel's beachside restaurant Woodend.
Maroma Spa by Guerlain will also feature a series of complimentary workshops. On 25 December, guests can discover the secrets to radiant skin with the Abeille Royale Facial Master Class, while the Orchidée Impériale Facial Master Class on 1 January explores the legendary rituals of imperial longevity.
Fragrance lovers will find inspiration in two exclusive sessions: an exploration of Guerlain's L'Art & La Matière collection on 27 December, and an immersion into the joyful, nature-inspired spirit of the Aqua Allegoria line on 2 January.
4. Mexico: Discover the flavours of the country's heartland at Casa De Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel, San Miguel De Allende
Evoking the charm of a bygone era, Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel, San Miguel de Allende offers siesta-like calm in the heart of the colourful, historic city, arranged across six heritage mansions dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, each rich with lovingly restored details.
This winter, guests are invited to master the art of Mexican cuisine at Sazón Cooking School, newly renovated by local artisans. Set within a magnificent 18th-century mansion, this hands-on culinary experience offers a deep dive into bold, authentic Mexican flavours.
