The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village’s sales staff was the recipient of two of Marriott’s prestigious “Global Leadership Awards” for 2008. Scott Selvaggi, the St. Augustine, Florida resort’s Director of Sales & Marketing, was named “Property Sales Leader of the Year – Renaissance Hotels (Franchise Partner)” for Marriott’s Central Region. The resort’s sales team (led by Selvaggi) was named “Property Sales Team of the Year – Renaissance Hotels (Franchise Partner)” for Marriott’s Central Region. The awards were announced in a Marriott company-wide webcast.

Selvaggi and the sales team were recognized for their exceptional sales efforts and results leading up to the completion of the resort’s $10 million property-wide renovation in July 2008, and for their impressive sales efforts and results capitalizing on the newly-renovated resort. Selvaggi has served as the resort’s Director of Sales & Marketing since 2007.

“Scott and our entire sales team did an exceptional job working with groups during the renovation process, which can be quite a challenge with the reduced inventory and other challenges that happen during a renovation,” said Mark Schwantner, general manager of the resort. “And their great sales work capitalizing on the newly-renovated resort since the projects were completed in July shows what a very strong team we have.”

Located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village right next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort’s $10 million renovation included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium and entry area, remodeling of all guest room corridors, expansion of the fitness center, remodeling of the billiard room, new carpeting and other enhancements to the meeting space, and remodeling of the restaurant and bar.

Whether you’re seeking a golfer’s paradise or a lush resort getaway, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village features a wealth of recreational offerings that appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike. In addition to two of the country’s finest golf courses (King & Bear, and Slammer & Squire), the resort enables guests to enjoy a soothing service at the world-class PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, experience the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy, relax on a nearby beach, and explore the wonders of America’s oldest city, St. Augustine.

On-site offerings at The Renaissance Resort include a professional golf simulator, a sauna, pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and full-service concierge. Guests also are an easy walk to The World Golf Hall of Fame’s 18-hole putting course, the 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, the IMAX® Theater, and the Walk of Champions.

In addition, the resort features exceptional meeting facilities. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the Northeast Florida resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

When visiting the resort, guests should explore St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city. Founded in 1565, the area is rich with Spanish architecture, with charming cobblestone streets and many fascinating historical sites such as the historic Castillo de San Marcos fort, and The Fountain of Youth.
