The Classic St. Regis Bloody Mary Cocktail Offered With a Distinct Twist to Reflect

The Rich Flavors of Bangkok will be Introduced When The Hotel Opens on 1st April 2011

The St. Regis Bangkok, Thailand’s first St. Regis hotel, is delighted to intrigue guests with the introduction of the Siam Mary, a unique interpretation of the classic St. Regis Bloody Mary when it opens on 1st April 2011. The famed cocktail has been a part of St. Regis history since 1934 when Fernand Petiot, bartender at the King Cole Bar in The St. Regis New York, introduced the “Red Snapper,” which would later be renamed the Bloody Mary. Since its creation 77 years ago, the Bloody Mary has been imitated and adapted endlessly, but the original recipe remains one of the most beloved cocktails ever created. As such, it has become one of the rituals for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts around the world to infuse the original Bloody Mary recipe with native flavors and transform the drink into a reflection of local cultural tastes.

“The Siam Mary is inspired by the flavors and spices of traditional Bangkok recipes, and cultivated from the St. Regis history,” said Andreas Oberoi, General Manager of The St. Regis Bangkok. “It is a wonderfully crafted libation, matched only by the striking presentation.”

Served in a 14-ounce silver goblet, the fiery red liquid stands in stark contrast to the greens and yellows of the Thai basil stem, lemongrass stalk, and lime wedge that serve as ornamentation. A dynamic drink, the Siam Mary balances the spice of Thai chili and wasabi with the zest of lemon, coriander and tomato, and emerges as a perfectly refreshing cocktail. Guests are welcomed to enjoy the Siam Mary during Bloody Mary Brunch at Viu restaurant, overlooking the Bangkok cityscape, on weekends, and every day amid the refinement and style of The St. Regis Bar.

Currently available for booking, The St. Regis Bangkok “Bangkok Debut” offer includes accommodation in any of its 176 guestrooms and 51 suites, either breakfast or a two-course dinner each day for up to two guests at Viu, a voucher of THB 1,000 per person for use at the Elemis Spa as well as high speed Internet access. The “Bangkok Debut” offer starts from THB7,300++ for the Deluxe Rooms with a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Deluxe Room. Guests who book a Grand Deluxe Room will be offered an upgrade to a Metropolitan Suite.
