Ni Hao from Beijing! It’s that time of year again for the annual City Weekend Readers Choice Awards where Beijing restaurant-goers vote for their favorite stars. This year two of Marriott’s finest shine as the best in the city.

Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel’s Fat Duck Chinese Restaurant won the award for the city’s Best Beijing Duck. This is quite an accomplishment considering the multitude of elite Chinese restaurants in the city. Chef Jackie Fong keeps guests and locals coming back for his juicy, crispy and healthier duck. Besides the refined cooking process that drains the fat, Chef Fong uses pine wood to give the dish a special flavor and tops off with the traditional sweet noodle sauce. The Chinese pancakes for wrapping that bite-sized duck are thin, soft and warm, adding perfectly to the excellent dining experience.

Tamarind, Marriott’s first Indian restaurant outside of India is located at the Beijing Marriott Hotel Northeast Tamarind Award and has won the Best New Restaurant in Beijing’ award across all cuisines as well as the second place in the ‘Best Indian Restaurant’ category. Chef Mangilal Kurly says the best selling dish so far is butter chicken in tomato gravy because it is spicy yet a little bit sweet and sour. Chinese customers also like Jeera Rice as Jeera is a popular type of spice in China.

Congratulations to our excellent culinary stars. The next time you visit Beijing, make sure to stop by for a taste!

All the best,
Bart Buiring
Regional Vice President, Operations
