EMEA – Group Desk & PHGMeetings.comThe growth of this segment in EMEA can be attributed to the concerted focus on the GROUPS market with the launch of several new initiatives including www.phgmeetings.com – a comprehensive online RFP management system that connects meeting planners & sales professionals to 650 hotels.
Furthermore, the dedicated Group Desk for English & German meetings professionals has seen an increase in bookings since its launch in 2012. The toll free number and website connects bookers to a dedicated Account Manager providing a bespoke ‘white glove’ service for meetings planners and sales professionals, ensuring a speedy response and dedicated follow up throughout the booking process with guaranteed access to key networking and Sales events organised by Preferred Hotel Group.
New Appointments EMEAPreferred Hotel Group has also expanded its team in Europe with two new appointments in the Groups team, including Sylvia Smith as Senior Director of Groups for UK, Ireland and Nordics based out of the London office and Marion Richter, Director of Groups for Central Europe in Frankfurt. Sylvia & Marion collectively bring over 25 years experience to Preferred Hotel Group.
Trends & Hot DestinationsAs commented by Sylvia Smith, emerging destinations for Groups have been identified as the BRIC countries and centres with vibrant economies such as Mongolia, Shanghai, Singapore & Brazil. Also identified is the return of smaller incentives and a converging booking pattern. As explained by Sylvia Smith: ‘the short lead time for group bookings has increased since last year, but the decision process is taking longer’.
