The St. Regis and The Laguna Resort & Spa, have been recognized for the second consecutive year as one of the leader of Bali’s hospitality industry with their 2nd Emerald medal achievement during Tri Hita Karana Award ceremony which took place on 7th December 2012 at Bali Art Center, Denpasar.

Established in 2000, Tri Hita Karana Tourism Award has been endorsed by UNWTO, United Nations World Tourism Organization since 2004. The main principles of Tri Hita Karana are the harmonious relationships between human being and God (parhyangan), within human being (pawongan) and human being with environment (palemahan). In 2010 this Tourism Award has become part of Bali province’s Green and Clean Program implementation promoted by the government.

Emerald recognition is given to hotels or institutions achieving gold award for third consecutive year promoting inter-human relationships in all dimensions of life, particularly to preserve the sustainable environment and Balinese culture, build a harmonious living in the resort and the surrounding. In our perspective, some of these three Balinese concepts are similar to ‘Starwood Cares’ pillars e.g. ‘Care to Associates’ (staff), ‘Care to Guests’, ‘Care to Business’ and ‘Care to Community’ which are actively promoted and applied within the resort.

The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna Resort & Spa have actively implemented the 3 concepts in their daily operation. To support Parhyangan concept, both resort build temples to pray and practice any religious events within the resort. This is not limited to Hindu religion only but also to the other four official religions in Indonesia; Moslem, Budha, Christian and Catholic. For Pawongan, we have supported four orphanages in Klungkung and Singaraja region. We also have two mentoring schools; SD No 4 and SD No. 6 Benoa which we continuously support. In addition, we also employ handicapped persons to work at the resort. For Palemahan concept, we participate on EarthCheck, a science-based benchmarking and certification program that requires us to operate at the highest possible international standards in regards to our environmental performance. For energy saving, our team also actively find alternatives to reduce electricity, water and gas consumption in the daily operation. Currently we have been silver certified for EarthCheck. To invite our guests to support the sustainability program, we offer green meetings package to their group meetings.
