Barcelo Hotels & Resorts Appoints Martin Young Director of Meeting & Incentive Sales for the Eastern Region

Barcelo Hotels & Resorts today announced the appointment of Martin Young to Director of Meeting & Incentive Sales for the Eastern Region as the Company continues to expand its U.S. based meetings and incentives sales team. Mr. Young joins Barcelo from Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts where he was the Regional Director of Group Sales for the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada for the past six years. Mr. Young, who began his hospitality career at the Doral Resort & Country Club in Miami, FL, has also held sales management positions with the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina in Newport, RI and the DoubleTree Island Hotel also in Newport, RI.

"We welcome Martin's extensive experience is selling meeting and incentive groups to Mexico and Caribbean destinations," said Vicki Denfeld, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Barcelo Crestline Corporation. "Martin's reputation is impeccable and we know that his extensive experience will be helpful as we continue to grow our brand awareness and add new premium Barcelo resorts in key destinations throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America," added Denfeld.

Mr. Young joins James Alfaro, Director of Meeting & Incentive Sales for the Western region, Linda Finley, Director of Meeting & Incentive Sales for the South and South Central regions, and Annette Carollo, Director of Meeting & Incentive Sales for the Midwest.

The expansion of the group sales and meeting support team is also part of the Company's ongoing effort to expand its incentive and meeting services. In 2006 the company introduced MeetBarcelo, a comprehensive meeting services program that enables meeting planners to select a hotel and book a complete function within 48 hours.

Most recently Barcelo added two hotels in Cancun to its Mexican portfolio, The Barcelo Tucancun Beach Hotel, and The Barcelo Costa Cancun. In addition, the company added the Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, and The Barcelo Karmina Palace Hotel in Manzanillo. The Company has announced construction on a fifth hotel at its popular Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. In the Dominican Republic, the company added The Barcelo Premium Punta Cana Resort located on Arena Gorda Beach.
