Opens record 18 hotels

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, marks yet another year of accelerated portfolio expansion in 2023 with 32 new hotels signed and 18 new hotels opened. Reinforcing its position as a leader in the hospitality landscape, IHCL’s portfolio at 285 hotels includes an industry leading pipeline of 85 hotels.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President - Real Estate & Development, IHCL stated, “2023 marks six consecutive years of portfolio expansion in the Indian subcontinent. Our approach to growth has been two pronged, penetrating deeper in existing markets with multiple brands and extending our footprint to new destinations taking our presence to 130+ locations.

She added, “2023 saw Taj brand strengthen its presence in key metro and commercial cities with 381 rooms in Delhi, 112 rooms in Cochin and forayed in international markets of Dhaka and Bhutan. Vivanta and SeleQtions together added 17 hotels while Ginger on the back of its lean luxe positioning signed 6 new hotels. This accelerated portfolio growth is a testament to the trust of partners in IHCL’s reimagined brandscape.”

Ms. Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – Hotel Openings & New Businesses, IHCL added, “The pace of opening new hotels has today brought us to the 200th operating hotel milestone with the launch of Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer. The year was also marked by landmark new hotel openings in key markets like Mumbai where IHCL launched Taj The Trees and the 371 keys flagship Ginger at Mumbai airport. Enhancing its leisure offering, IHCL opened Taj Sawai Ranthambore, Baragarh Resort & Spa, SeleQtions in Manali, Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa in Gangtok and entered new markets with Taj in Gandhinagar, Vivanta in Tawang and Jammu, SeleQtions in Indore, and Ginger in Gangtok and Zirakpur among others.”
